Scituate, Massachusetts
A beach house in Shore Acres.
This is our family’s beach house in Shore Acres, Scituate: three bedrooms, two baths, and the Atlantic right out front. The beach is a four-minute walk; the harbor is a three-minute drive.
Morning starts on the porch.
The porch faces east, so the sunrise finds you first. Hanging baskets in June, hydrangeas by July. Most mornings don’t get any farther than this.
“Our favorite spot was the front porch. We even woke up early on our last day to catch the sunrise.”Benjamin, New York · stayed June 2024

A queen, a queen, and two twins. Plus a den with a daybed guests keep calling their favorite room. Two full baths, and a kitchen stocked the way a family actually cooks.

Beach gear and kid stuff
Chairs, umbrella, wagon, toys, pack ’n play on request.
Traveling with small humans? We keep a bin of toys and rainy-day ideas in the den. High chair on request, kids’ dishes in the drawer, beach buckets in the mudroom.
The binoculars live in the dining-room drawers. We use them for boat-watching; on a clear day you can pick out the Provincetown Lighthouse on the horizon.
You don’t have to take our word for it.
“In the words of my toddler, ‘Wow!’ and my teen son, ‘best Airbnb ever.’ This house felt like our home for a week; we were sad to go.”

“Our boys were over the moon with the toys and beach gear, water shoes, beach bags, umbrella, sunscreen. Carla honestly restored my faith in online booking.”

The beach is a four-minute walk.
Egypt Beach and Sand Hills are both an easy stroll. High tide is better for swimming. At low tide the sand flats go out forever, and the sunsets can surprise you.
Egypt Beach · 4 minutes on foot
The neighborhood beach. Stony, bracing, and close enough to walk home for lunch. In summer the parking lot is town-sticker only, which keeps it quiet; from the front door you never need one.
Sand Hills · 12 minutes on foot
Long, flat, and sandy, down by the lighthouse. At low tide the flats stretch farther than the kids can walk. This is where the wagon pays for itself.
Peggotty Beach · 5 minutes by car
The sunset beach. Bring a sweatshirt even in July; the breeze has opinions after 6pm.
Chairs, umbrella, towels, and a wagon live in the shed. Two eBikes, too.
“We’d wake up every day to the smell of the ocean. You could hear the waves at night putting you to sleep.”Eugene, stayed June 2025
The harbor, three minutes down the road.
Downtown Scituate wraps around a working harbor: lobster boats in the morning, sailboats on their moorings, the 1811 lighthouse on Cedar Point. Walk Front Street for coffee at Lucky Finn, a sub from Maria’s, ice cream at Nona’s after, then out the pier to watch the boats come in.
See the full Scituate guide for beaches, restaurants, and day trips.
Summer’s the obvious one. October’s the one you’ll tell people about.
July is beach days and harbor dinners. October is the fireplace, the grey sea, and the whole beach to yourself.
Beach days, harbor dinners, bikes to town. The AC keeps up; the breeze does the rest at night.
Nor’easters roll through and the house goes quiet and warm; one family watched surfers try out their new Christmas boards from the sofa. Holiday decorations go up in December.
